SUNY Orange Community Orchestra Flyer

After completing and choosing the final logo design for the joint project for the SUNY Orange Community Orchestra, my design partner, Kevin and me then went and created the flyer design.

We found a way to incorporate the SUNY Orange colors into the flyer by making the background of the flyer orange with a black sans serif text font in the front of the background as it is legible with a light colored background and the blue was not only incorporated with the logo, but also with the silhouettes of the musical instruments. The center silhouetted instrument is the cello to reflect the featured winning soloist for the orchestra. In addition, her name is in a bolded sans serif under the first featured classical piece in the orchestra's program. The cello creates symmetry between the show dates and location of the show and the show's program. Even the other silhouetted instruments surrounding the cello, the trumpet, oboe, french horn, and the flute, are also evenly balanced. The "swoosh" was provided by our Visual Communications instructor who is also my site superviser. The final logo we chosen with the consult from the orchestra's conductor, is the SUNY Orange logo but with "O" changed to a treble clef and "Community Orchestra" in a sans serif font to compliment the serif font for SUNY Orange. We used Adobe Illustrator and InDesign to complete the flyer and to fit it inside a boarder for printing. We did 5 round of 20 (a total of 100) prints for the color version of the flyer and a round of 25 prints of the black and white version of the flyer (located below the color version of the flyer) straight to the VIS COM Lab printer. In other words, it was a lot of toner and ink!
