Open Theme Photo featuring dolls and plush animals

The inspiration behind the photo is from my childhood where as an 8-11 year old girl. I bring my dolls to school almost everyday to play with them at recess on the playground when the weather was nice enough or in the common area when th playground had too much snow or it was raining(at my elementary school, we hand a common area for each color wing section of the school).  My Galaxy S6 PRO mode settings for the photo were 5500 K Daylight, shutter 1/30, and ISO at 400. Since I took the photo outside, I used the natural lighting from the sun to add a natural highlight to the two American Girl dolls on either side, especially on their cheeks. When looking at the original photo, the lighting gives off a natural, mid day feeling. When editing the final photo in Photoshop, I adjusted the brightness and contrast, vibrancy, and exposure in addition to adjusting the levels and curves of the highlights and shadows. I also edited the color balance with a transparency blue-green overlay to give the photo a more calming and relax feeling (even though to some it is a little creepy). I blurred out the background with the mansion more drastically by going to filter>blur>guassain blur and cloned out the mansion's chimney so that it did not look like it was growing out of one of the dolls heads as well as cropping out a bit of the bottom of the photo to make it more balance. I was up on the edge of Alumni Field in front of Rowley and Orange Hall where the bench the dolls were somewhat sitting on and since it was midday-early afternoon, the sun was on my right side but the dolls' left. The biggest compositional element that I took advantage of was the symmetry with half the dolls on one side and the other half on the other . The tree in front of the mansion in the background balances out the dolls evenly. The balance of the tree and the dolls are my strongest elements in the photo with and without the trimming of the bottom edge because the tree evenly splits the dolls into to even groups and also evens out the other buildings in the background aside from the mansion, giving the image near perfect symmetry. The weakest element, however, is the the highlight on the dolls cheeks because not matter how hard I used the burn tool, spot healing tool, or cloning tool, the highlights refuse to be toned down. It is so harsh that nearly half of one of the dolls' faces is blinding. The largest thing I learned from this assignment is not to take the photo at midday because of the harsh lighting. Other than that, I was able to play around more on Photoshop to make the photo how I wanted the photo to be.
